It’s been a while since I’ve written to this group - Happy New Year! A lot has happened since I last checked in:
We adopted a dog from a local shelter. If you’re on the fence about getting a dog, stop thinking about it and just do it. It’s one of the best decisions we made - his name is Mowgli and he got him from a facility called Animal Rescue Foundation. He’s missing one eye and several teeth, but you wouldn’t know it by his constant, steady demeanor. There are a lot of dogs out there at shelters that need homes, so I cannot advocate strongly enough for helping at least one if you can afford the time and space.
My new company is now 8-strong. I started a company that’s using AI to synthesize public information into easy-to-understand digests and it’s going pretty well. It’s early days, but as an experienced Founder I’ve learned to roll with the ups and downs of Founder life. I love it, and I’m very much back in my element.
I’m trying to eliminate ‘Junk Food Content’ - want to join my recently re-started book club? One thing I’m reflecting on is how much junk I consume day-to-day on Twitter, Insta and other social media. By some estimates, a majority of content on the Internet will be produced by AI in the next few years. I think it’s going to be a major advantage for folks mentally, career-wise, and in every aspect of life to take a step back and read long-form more. To that end, I’m restarting my COVID-era book club - we will meet once a month (virtually) and the commitment will be very light. Interested in joining? Just email me back and say ‘yes’.
I’m writing a column for Forbes about AI - have ideas for me? As part of my Founder journey, I am writing more about the space I’m building in. If you have topic ideas, please email me. I’ll be interviewing a congressional candidate about how AI is going to affect the upcoming - sure to be contentious election - in coming weeks.
I have several more things up my sleeve I can’t share yet - but family, health (thanks to regular OrangeTheory to offset the Taco Bell consumption) and life in general are pretty good at the moment. Would love to hear from you if we haven’t talked in a while - to a prosperous 2024!
